Contribute to PHM 2025

The PHM 2025 Planning Committee is looking for individuals interested in assisting with planning elements of the PHM 2025 Conference.

There are many ways you can contribute to the success of PHM 2025. Explore the options below and fill out the interest form for a volunteer position. Volunteers will be considered on a rolling basis per key dates of the meeting’s planning. Individuals can volunteer or nominate a colleague. If you are nominating a colleague, please indicate this in the form at the time of submission.

Volunteer Roles

The Top 10 Articles Plenary is one of the most well-attended sessions of the PHM meeting. The PHM 2025 Planning Committee is seeking nominations for two Top 10 Articles presenters and one fellow. Fellows should indicate that they are a fellow on their application form.

  • The presenters will be responsible for a comprehensive literature review of the past year’s science and presenting a summary of the articles in a 60-minute plenary session at PHM 2025.
  • The 2025 Top 10 Articles presenters will be introduced to the previous year’s presenters for on-going mentorship and guidance.
    Top 10 Article presenters receive complimentary registration and one night’s lodging.
  • Top 10 Article presenters receive complimentary registration and one night’s lodging.

The PHM 2025 Planning Committee seeks to fill one position as the Abstracts Co-Chair. The commitment is a two-year term starting this year and ending at the conclusion of PHM 2026.

The selected PHM 2024 Abstract Co-Chair will work closely with the current Research Abstract Co-Chair to:


  • Determine any themes for the abstracts.
  • Review all call for research abstracts materials and approve by deadline specified by the host society staff member. 
  • Help solicit and select the peer reviewers for all submitted abstracts.  
  • Review and update meeting Abstract Review Guidelines.
  • Review and provide edits for submission site.
  • Review all peer reviewer scores and the content of the abstracts with partner society staff to compile accepted abstracts for posters, platforms, and plenary presentations.
  • Maximize the number of opportunities to present posters.   
  • Review and recommend moderators for each of the live presentation sessions and the plenary session to the planning committee.  
  • Attend PHM 2025 and PHM 2026 meetings.
  • Debrief the annual process and recommend changes if needed to next year’s process.

The Abstract Co-Chair will receive complimentary registration.

The deadline to apply and/or nominate an individual for the Abstract Co-Chair position is November 1, 2024.

The PHM 2025 Planning Committee seeks to fill one position as the Clinical Conundrums Co-Chair. The commitment is a two-year term starting this year and ending at the conclusion of PHM 2026.

The selected PHM 2024 Clinical Conundrums Co-Chair will work closely with the current Clinical Conundrums Co-Chair to:

  • Determine any themes for clinical conundrums. 
  • Review all call for conundrums materials and approve the deadline specified by the host society staff member. Instructions should include submission and presentation tips.  
  • Help solicit and select the peer reviewers for all submitted conundrums. 
  • Review and update the “Conundrum Review Guidelines” before it is disseminated to all peer reviewers. 
  • Review all peer reviewer scores and the content of the clinical conundrums to compile accepted conundrums for poster and platform presentations.
  • Maximize the number of opportunities to present conundrums.  
  • Review all conundrum presentations chosen for live presentation and provide mentoring to those presenting at least (five) weeks prior to the conference.   
  • Moderate or review and select moderators for each conundrum live presentation session.  
  • Attend PHM 2025 and PHM 2026 meetings.
  • Debrief the annual process and recommend changes if needed to next year’s process.

The Clinical Conundrum Co-Chair will receive complimentary registration.

The deadline to apply and/or nominate an individual for the Clinical Conundrum position is November 1, 2024.

The PHM 2025 Planning Committee seeks to fill one position as Social Media Co-Chair. The commitment is a three-year term starting this year and ending at the conclusion of 
PHM 2027.

The PHM 2025 Social Media 
Co-Chair may be a resident, fellow, or early-career hospitalist and will work closely with the current Social Media Co-Chairs to:

  • Promote the meeting through social media.
  • Create and execute a comprehensive social media marketing plan for the meeting.
  • Distribute social media posts including but not limited to Twitter posts and other social media channels.
  • Report to PHM Planning Committee as requested and share progress and plans.
  • Recruit additional co-chairs and mentor them to ease the leadership transition.
  • Social media use must adhere to CME policies and host society policies.

The Social Media Co-Chair will receive complimentary registration.

The deadline to apply and/or nominate an individual for the Social Media Co-Chair position is November 1, 2024.

The PHM 2025 Planning Committee seeks to fill one position as Awards Co-Chair. The commitment is a 
two-year term starting this year 
and ending at the conclusion of 
PHM 2026.

The Awards Co-Chair will work closely with the current Awards Co-Chair to:

  • Review the awards application process in its entirety for necessary updates prior to its deployment.
  • Work together with the Awards sub-committee to review and select submissions.
  • Notify applicants and awardees.
  • Review all award nominations and applications.
  • Review and update types of awards and the criteria for selection.
  • Develop ways to increase the number of nominations for each award.
  • Present the awards at PHM in-person.
  • Attend PHM 2025 and PHM 2026 meetings.
  • Debrief the annual process and recommend changes if needed to next year’s process.

PHM Planning Committee members, Awards Co-Chairs, and the Awards sub-committee members are not eligible for nomination for the awards. 

Awards Co-Chairs will receive complimentary registration.

The deadline to apply and/or nominate an individual for the Awards Co-Chair position is December 2, 2024.

Content reviewers will review submitted content proposals which include Workshop, Mini-Plenaries, Quick Hits, and General Topics. Each reviewer will be assigned a set number of content proposals to review; the number will vary based upon the number of proposals submitted. Content reviews will take place from mid-January to early February.

The deadline to apply to be a Content reviewer is December 2, 2024.

Abstract reviewers will review, and score submitted abstracts. Each reviewer will be assigned a set number of abstracts to review, the number will vary based upon the number of abstracts submitted. Abstract reviews will take place in late February, early March. Reviewers will have 3-4 weeks to submit their reviews.

The deadline to apply to be an Abstract reviewer is January 24, 2025.

Clinical Conundrums reviewers will review and score submitted conundrums. Each reviewer will be assigned a set number of Clinical Conundrums to review; the number will vary based upon the number of conundrums submitted. Clinical Conundrums reviews will take place in late February, early March. Reviewers will have 3-4 weeks to submit their reviews.

The deadline to apply to be an Abstract reviewer is January 24, 2025.

The PHM 2025 Planning Committee is looking for abstract and conundrum session moderators. Moderators will be responsible for introducing the presenters, and soliciting, organizing, and asking questions during the Abstract and Conundrum sessions taking place at PHM 2025. All moderators are required to attend PHM 2025.

The deadline to apply to be an Abstract reviewer is May 2, 2025.
